Bangkok 11th May 2007 Day 2

11th May 2007
Woke up late at 1100hrs . Skip the breakfast provided by the hotel – don’t to eat also. We had our brunch at Platinam Mall - a wholesell fashion mall. The mall is opposite our hotel . I change my thai baht there at $100 SGD to $2231 thai baht. We settle the brunch at the mall’s food court . Same, we need to buy the value card .

We hailed a taxi and head to the grand palace. Before going to the taxi must always tell the driver that on meter, and check whether did he press the meter.
In the Grand Palace - we bought tickets. Ryan saw postcards of the palaces back to Singapore . Just $15 baht 1week later will able to receive it. We entered into the palace. (The weather was scorching hot) Need to mention to enter the palace have to dress appropriately- no singlets, bumudas, flip-flops and more …..

We came to the Emerald Buddha temple. The temple was under renovation but still able to see the statues. The Buddha had draw pilgrims from all over Thailand- here especially you must act with respect, sitting with your feet pointing away from the Buddha. The Buddha had 3 costumes. The costumes are robe for different seasons, Hot, Rainy and Cool. The temple was surrounded beautifully décor. Gold is the colour that makes everywhere in the temple was so bright , so shinning.

Then we went into the palace where all type of ceremony for the royal family. There are museum in it - the weapon museum, museum where they show case how the palace was renovated the palaces and last just beside the ticket counter museum to showcase the “The Royal Regalia, Decoration And Coins Pavilion Bureau of Grand National Treasure”.
After seeing the jewel the wear woh …it do not suit me ….heehee to heavy….just 1 ring is surround by 7 type of jems. After enjoy the air-con in the museum we exit the palace, heading to Wat Pho.


It took about 20mins walking to Wat Pho, pass I not bored as we pass thur lu pian tan, where seen people selling amulate of the Buddha and some 2nd hand suff. Reaching Wat Pho is just behind the Grand Palace.

Wat Pho - the Sleeping Buddha Temple. Need to pay before enter. For a 50 baht to see the long enormous figure. Sleepzzzzzzzz….As we just going to take off our shoes and enter the temple, we were stop by the staff as we did not pay the ticket yet. The figure was carved detail.

The weather was such hot that I need find a place and that off my cargo pants extension .

Ryan donated 20 baht in exchange for 5cent. The coins are then put into the 180 donation bowls. May his wish come true.

Just behind Wat Pho, across the road we came to a jetty- Tha Thien. We will be take the boat from there to the Wat Arun. 3 baht /pax .


Wat Arun - Temple of the Dawn. We took the boat to the temple . The temple was not as beautiful as Grand Palace . It was build from porceline. We were able to climb to the the mid of the temple.

Back to the mainland we shared a cab with 2 Canadian to Kao San. Kao San a area where all the backpacker are stay. There cheap guesthouse can be found. We were there to find deal for 1 day trip to Kanchanaburi and River Kwai. We had Mcdonalds before we continued. In the street can see lot of shop for shopping , bars, people weaving/drylocking their hair , tattoos palour and more ……. The street reminded me when I was at Ho Chi Ming - Bui Vein. We asked around the price for the trip . We found the it and was from the Green House about $600 baht /pax. Do some shopping there ….

Headed to Chinatown… Reaching there but did not have our dinner immediately , as we were still bolted by the burgers we had earlier . So we took a walk along the street of Chinatown.
We settle our dinner at “ TLC Seafood Restaurant” . We had shark fins at 300 baht, fresh oyster at $30 baht / piece and bird nest with bai gou at $100 baht /bowl. Man ju man ju. The fresh oyster slip into my throat smoothly leaving the slumpy taste into it. FEELING FULLY FILLFILLING ……. Me in heaven liao…..
Guess what I slipping in ??Answer: Shark Fins.... These are FRESH OYSTERS ...big big ones

gurrrrr..... I slowly slowly arrrrrh into my throat......

Purchase some cracker from the area …..then head back to Platinam Mall … want to change money to spent for the next day but is already closed.
